With its retro-style housing and portable design, this countertop appliance can produce up to 26 pounds of ice per day. The small ice machine works with regular tap water or bottled water and can hold up to a gallon at a time. Easy to use, simply plug in the unit, fill the reservoir with water, and it quickly and efficiently takes care of the rest. The ice-cube maker produces the first batch in as little as 6 to 15 minutes, and it drops nine cubes per cycle. A user-friendly push-button control turns the unit on and off, while a -inchselect-inch button allows for choosing from three different size cubes--small, medium, or large. An ice scooper comes included. Ideal for use in the kitchen, bar area, or office, the ETL-approved ice machine measures 11-1/2 by 11-4/5 by 14-1/4 inches and carries a 90-day limited warranty.

| I plan on taking a trip soon and at 2 dollars a pop for ice I thought I'd give a Portable icemaker a try, Plus I thought it would come in handy at home. Well I shopped around on the internet and stores and selected the Nostalgic Icemaker and boy was I impressed. It started making ice in about 15 minuts and was full in about 1 and 1/2 hours. I was amazed.Well it is better than I expected and just as pretty as the picture when I ordered it. And of course made it all happen. Thanks. N.R. |
Countertop Ice Maker

| I purchased the Nostalgia Electrics ice maker to avoid multiple ice trays until my ice maker is connected. It takes approx 3 3/4 quarts of water and makes as much ice in each batch as 4-6 ice trays in only a little over two hours. Easy to empty and fill, the only draw back is the ice is still "wet" and needs to be freed up shortly after freezing to remain loose. An excellent purchase. |
ICE CUBE MAKER

| I WAS GIVEN THIS PRODUCT AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT AND USED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY (JULY 4TH) FOR OUR PARTY. IT IS TRUE THAT IT IS NOT THE FASTEST ICE MAKER, BUT THIS THING WILL CONTINUALLY CHUG OUT ICE CUBES ALL DAY LONG. I LIKED THAT I COULD COLLECT THEM OR LET MY GUESTS COME AND SCOOP OUT THEIR OWN ICE. THIS REALLY WAS A HIT AT THE PARTY AND EVERYONE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A VERY ATTRACTIVE APPLIANCE. IT ALSO HAS SOME FEATURES THAT I REALLY LIKE. I LIKE HOW THE ICE MACHINE WILL STOP MAKING CUBES WHEN THE BIN IS FULL, SO THAT IT DOES NOT OVERFLOW OR BACKUP AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. I ALSO LIKE THAT WHEN YOU DO EMPTY THE ICE COMPARTMENT IT STARTS MAKING CUBES AGAIN ON ITS OWN. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE THE SIZE ICE CUBES THAT YOU WOULD LIKE (SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE). THIS MACHINE DOES NOT PRODUCE ICE LIKE A PROFESSIONAL ICE MAKER, BUT I FOUND IT VERY USEFUL AND RELIABLE FOR PRODUCING A STEADY AMOUNT OF ICE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DAY AND WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND IT! |
no more running out of ice, or so I thought

This written when the machine was new: While some reviewers seem to have had some negative issues with this machine, I've had none but positive. It's attractive, fits nicely on the countertop, easy to access and clean, and, best of all, makes lots of ice very reliably. I found no problem with start-up: took it out of the shipping package, swabbed it out with some baking soda and water, poured in water, and turned it on. Got ice fast! Ice isn't cubes but, being rounded, fits better in the glass. Machine keeps a constant supply available until water runs out. Then I simply open the top-sided lid, pour in a gallon of spring water, and within minutes have all the ice I want or need. I can hear the ice dropping into the well as it's made, but this does not annoy: it merely reassures me that the next time I want to dip into it, I'll find ice and plenty of it. I heartily recommend this little item.
News Bulletin 20 Jan 2010: as some others have said here, the machine stopped working today. I fiddled with its guts, to no avail. In November, I gave it 5 stars. For the time it worked, I'd still give it 5 stars. But now that it decided on its own to die, I'll arbitrarily give it 2 stars. Buy the machine if you want a few glorious months of great ice. If you want something else, buy some other machine. |
Worked great for 10 months, then broke

First let me say that I loved this ice maker. It was the only source of ice in my home and I used it several times a week over the last 10 months. Around the holidays and in the summer it was used almost daily. It was loud as some other reviewers indicated, but something you can get used to. It made the amount of ice as described in the online descriptions. The color attracted me to this unit, as well as the price. It was cheaper than some of the other units I had been reviewing for purchase. This machine was exactly what I expected.
Recently, it stopped working. The unit won't power on consistently. When it finally does power on, the ice tray is malfunctioning due to a crack running up the side. I contacted the manufacturer, but because it was out of the 90 or 180 day warranty period there was nothing they could do except to recommend a local appliance repair shop. I don't recommend this model or this manufacturer. The manufacturers' user guide for this ice maker touts this as an ice maker to last for years of use. Well, that has not been my experience. I think the price of this unit is too much to spend for something that breaks in less than a year.
