This 1-1/2-quart ice-cream maker from Krups creates wonderful homemade ice cream, yogurt, or sorbet. The accompanying instruction booklet has many excellent recipes, such as iced strawberry soufflé and orange sorbet, and the freezing cylinder provides fast service--it only takes 30 minutes to prepare a frozen treat. Use the recipes that are included, or modify a basic recipe with your own additions to create a new favorite frozen dessert. --Julie McCowan

Back when we were making up our wedding registry, my then-fiance (now husband) really wanted an ice cream maker. The store we registered at had three options: the Krups, the Cuisinart and one that used salt. We chose the Krups based on its smaller size and touted ease of use. The claims of ease were absolutely true! We keep the bowl of the machine in our freezer at all times so we're ready to mix up a batch of fresh, homemade ice cream with as short a wait as possible. The mixer is very strong and we've yet to mix up a batch too thick for it. It's also a breeze to clean up. You wouldn't believe the raves we've received on the varieties of ice cream we've made. What more could you ask for? Another reviewer mentioned the scarcity of recipes that came with the machine. To be honest, we've never tried any of them. The most requested batch we've made came from "Williams-Sonoma's Ice Creams and Sorbets" book - it's the recipe for Cantaloupe Sorbet with Minted Melon. We've also found Ben & Jerry's book to be a winner as well.

How easy can this be? You keep it in the freezer and then make the best ice cream you ever had in less than 1/2 hour. I made my first Peach Ice Cream (a Ben and Jerry's knock-off) and it was the best I ever had. It rinses out clean and you just pop it back in the freezer. I used to have one of those that needed ice and salt. What a mess. I never made good ice cream with it. This one is GREAT!

I have had this machine for over a year now and it works Great! It's too bad several people have had issues with using the device. Important information is spelled out clearly in our Instruction Book on page 9 and 10 under the heading MAKING ICE CREAM. The proper way to assemble the lid is to (a)Insert the tabs on the lid into the slots of the freezing cylindar, then (b)lock the rear of the lid onto the container. (press the release button if you can't press hard enough). Using those steps, there really is not an issue of the paddle bing out of place either. If you try to position the rear first you may break the lid. Issues with your ice cream not freezing is directly related to following freezing instructions on page 9 under FREEZING THE CYLINDER BOWL. Check your freezer settings and adjust accordingly. For those who have had leakage issue or have broken pieces, I wouldn't give up on their customer service. Most companies stand by their products and often times we just give up to easily. Ask for help!! Just in case you lost your Instruction Book....their 24/7 Toll Free number is (800) 526-5377. Your product Type is #358. You will need that information when you call. If you want to write to them: Krups North America, Inc. P.O. Box 3900, Peoria, IL 61612. This is a great little device, makes delicious ice cream in a very short period of time. Get Creative....Use it...Krups would want you to be satisfied with their product.

Making ice cream couldn't be easier than with this sturdy dependable machine...once you start making your own ice cream , not a summer weekend will go by without it. And your friends that you invite over to share it? They'll think you're the best thing since Ben & Jerry...guaranteed. You'll love this machine. Tip for hot sticky summer days=put the whole machine right in the freezer will it's running to cut on extra time. Do yourself a favor and buy the Ultimate Ice Cream Book and the Ben& Jerry's Ice Cream Book for lots of fun recipes!

We just got the Krups ice cream maker and WOW does it work fast. Very easy to assemble/disassemble, incredibly easy to clean, and it 'froze' the icecream in under half an hour. So far our biggest issue- it's not even really a problem- is that many of the ice cream recipes we've found are for larger canisters. If you use the Krups, you'll simply have to pay close attention to how much ice cream a recipe makes, and cut back on the batch as needed. Because Krups recommends chilling precooked custard bases overnight and because the custard base can keep in the fridge a few days, if you make too large a batch of custard, you can simply run half the batch of custard at a time.
